MARION ANNE BEMBENEK (nee LYSAK) With great courage and dignity our wife, mother and sister passed away on July 6, 2000 with her family at her side. Marion was predeceased by her grandparents, Anna and John Ostrowski; her parents, Michalena and Nicholas Lysak; and Sir Charles our family cat. She will be sadly missed by her husband Nicholas, daughter Christine and sister Bernice Lysak. Marion was born in Winnipeg on the 16th of August. She attended William Whyte School and St Johns Tech High School and then married Nicholas in 1951. She worked at United Grain Growers for a short time until her sunshine came into her life. She was a devoted wife and mother. Marion was very active in the Catholic Womens League until her illness forced her to curtail her activities. She especially enjoyed her cottage at Spruce Sands and her many trips to Hawaii. She was very caring, compassionate and a profoundly private lady as evidenced by the manner in which she handled her illness. Marion wanted people to remember her healthy and vibrant. The family would like to thank the care given to Marion from the Victoria General Hospital; especially the Oncology and Emergency Departments, Dr. Maxwell, the VON and Home Care. Pallbearers will be provided by the Knights of Columbus at St. Anthony of Padua Parish. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Marions name to the Canadian Cancer Foundation, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9 or the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C S6, or a charity of ones choice. Prayers will be said at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Luxton Avenue on Monday, July 10. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 11 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Ave., with Rev. Fr. Terrance McGrath officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery. Your memories are our keepsakes from which we will never part. God has you in his keeping, but we have you in our hearts. Rest in Peace Loved One Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements 586-8044.
