WILLIAM STEWART MORRISON Passed to rest peacefully at Victoria Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones, July 7, 2000. Predeceased by his parents, three brothers and one sister, Bill is survived by his loving wife Susan; daughter Fiona Ham and Mel of Glenboro and grandchildren, Lauren and Nathan, of whom he was especially proud. He will also be sadly missed by brother-in-law William Galloway and Helen of Gimli; niece Joy and husband Stuart White of Richer and their children, Sian and Nolan; also nephew David Galloway of Winnipeg. Numerous family members back home in Scotland also mourn his passing. Born in Doune, Perthshire, Scotland in 1931, Bill took a painters apprenticeship before serving with the Royal Air Force in Korea where he spent time as a P.O.W. After the war, he and brother-in-law William Galloway emigrated to Canada in 1957 with Susan and Fiona following a year later. Eventually Bill gained employment with the maintenance department at the University of Manitoba, where he remained for 13 years, becoming head of the Paint Shop. In 1971, he became co-owner of the Ryall Hotel in Carman, MB, where his enjoyment of music, good-natured sense of humour and love of people touched everyone around him. Bill and Susan moved to British Columbia in 1978 and enjoyed almost 20 years of beautiful climate and scenery, spending the last 10 in the Okanagan at Summerland. They retired back to Winnipeg in 1996. Bill joined the Khartoum Temple in 1972 and later served as President and Arabian Band Director of the Gizeh Temple, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shrine Hospital for Children, 1155 Wilkes Avenue, R3P 1B9. Special heartfelt thanks for their kindness and compassion to Doctor Maxwell, the oncology department and nurses and staff of the 5th floor, Victoria Hospital. Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, July 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave. (Aubrey Street Entrance).
