Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRANDOLPH NATHANIEL JAMES Randolph Nathaniel James passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital on July 10, 2000 at 2:04 a.m., after a lengthy illness. He was born in the Caribbean Island country of C, a twin son of William and Florence James. He was predeceased by them in 1949 and 1972 respectively. He is survived by his loving wife Norma; son Lyndon; sisters and brothers, Stella, Iris, Carlton and Wilfred. His passing is mourned by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, close friends and a caring church family. In order to satisfy a childhood dream to see more of the world, in 1941 Randolph volunteered to be enlisted as a member of the First Battalion, Caribbean Regiment. He served during the hostilities first in Egypt and then in Italy (1945). In 1964 he moved to Toronto and worked for the Ontario Provincial Government until 1966 when he married Norma Haynes. Leaving to start their home in Portage la Prairie, MB, he worked with the Department of Health for the Provincial Government of Manitoba until his retirement in 1986. In the early 1990s, Randy served as chaplain at Park Manor Personal Care Home. A believer in healthy choices for living, during all of those years Randy donated countless hours of community service by driving for the Canadian Cancer Society and through his direction of the Breathe Free Program to Stop Smoking. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society. Viewing will take place on Monday, July 17 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., with prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 18 at 10:45 a.m. at the Henderson Highway Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1314 Henderson Hwy., with viewing one half-hour prior to service time. Interment in the Garden of Prayer at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the reception centre at Glen Eden Funeral Home.
