FRED MAKSYMETZ God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be he wrapped his arms around you and whispered "Come with Me." It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Maksymetz of St. Albert, Alberta (formerly of Winnipeg) on July 8, 2000 at the age of 60 years, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife, Eileen, his best friend and soulmate for 34 years; his beloved children, Darren of Bermuda, Brian and Tracey of Calgary, and by Traceys partner Michael Price. He also leaves to mourn five sisters, Rose (Wilbur) Peters of Phoenix, AZ, Clarice Maskiew of Bloodvein, MB, Mary Halowaty, Helen (Steve) Zelisney, and Carol, all of Winnipeg, MB; four brothers, Lawrence (Alice) and Tony (Linda) of Winnipeg, Steve and Syl (Vivian) of The Pas, MB; mother-in-law Kay Dykun of Dauphin, MB; sisters-in-law, Ann Maksymetz of Winnipeg, Liz (Dwayne) Kushniruk of Edmonton, Delores (Stan) Sklepowich and Pat Dykun of Dauphin; and brother-in-law Wasyl (Deb) Dykun of Gilbert Plains, MB. He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anne, brother Morris, father-in-law Nick Dykun, and brother-in-law Danny Halowaty. Fred was born on March 2, 1940, in Gilbert Plains, MB. In 1956, he left home to become a carman welder with the CPR in Winnipeg. Later, Fred returned to school to complete his High School and in 1972 he obtained his B. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at the U of M. He transferred to Montreal for a short time and eventually moved to St. Albert, AB. There he was employed by Edmonton Truck Body and later by Edmonton Transit as Equipment Engineering Supervisor. A prayer service will be held at St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Dr., on July 13, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. Father George LaGrange, O.M.I. will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on July 14, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Albert Catholic Church, 7 St. Vital Ave., followed by interment.
