ISA APEL Isa passed away July 9, 2000 in St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 73, after a courageous battle with cancer. Isa was predeceased by her parents, Bruno and Alma Wiegand (nee Solner). Isa is survived by her husband Arno; sister Ursula and husband Manfred Dohler; daughter Dagmar and son-in-law Tony Kirdie; her granddaughter Sabrina and husband Kevin Nickel; grandson Tristan and numerous relatives in Germany. Isa, Arno and their only child arrived in Canada in July of 1965. Except for working outside the house for the first five years, she became a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She followed her husband to his work in Gillam until he retired in 1986. They settled in the Sprague area until her death. Oma placed her family above all else. She made friends very easily no matter how many times in her life she had to relocate. Her house was always abundant with cookies, cake, and Kuchen. In the summer she had her yard and gardens, and there were socks, socks, and one more pair of socks to knit for somebody. We saw your pain, it is now ours. We saw your spirit, we can only admire. We saw your stubbornness, we sometimes wondered. We saw your smile, it will always be with us. God gave your tired body a well deserved rest. Forever you will be in our hearts. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Friday, July 14 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 409 Tache Avenue, R2H 2A6, or to a charity of your choice.
