MARY CECILIA (CECILY) STEVENSON Passed away peacefully on July 10, 2000 at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 92 years. Cecily is survived by Jack, her loving husband of over 70 years. Besides her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory her children, David (Jean), Betty Geraghty (Hal), Patricia Burrows, Richard (Maria), Sally Corby (Paul), Cathy Sweeney (Michael) her 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who all referred to her with great affection as "Mimi". Cecily graduated from Rupertsland Girls School in Winnipeg. During her early married years she was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary at St. Georges Anglican Church as well as a volunteer in the St. Agnes Guild of the Childrens Hospital. During the Second World War Cecily opened her home to the U.K. air crews training in Canada and she was very active with the war effort in helping provide hostessing for the armed forces at the Kinsmen Canteen and at the Hospitality Centre at Eatons Annex. Her greatest interest was her family and she was always surrounded by her children and grandchildren at the former family summer camp at the Lake of the Woods. More recently her family enjoyed visiting Mimi and Papa at their winter home in Naples, Florida. A memorial service to celebrate Cecilys life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 13 in St. Georges Anglican Church, Wilton at Grosvenor, with the Rev. Canon J. A. Harwood-Jones officiating. In Cecilys memory, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the St. Georges Church Memorial Fund or the Manitoba Lung Association. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
