CHANT RICHARDSON Chant Richardson passed away peacefully at the age of 92 years on Tuesday, July 11, 2000 at Misericordia Health Centre where he had resided since July, 1999 following a series of strokes in May, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy; his son Gordon; brother Lorne and Len of Saskatoon; sisters Clara of Kindersley, SK., and May of Kimberley, BC. as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Chant worked for CN Rail for over 40 years, retiring in 1969. He and Dorothy subsequently relocated for two years to Minnesota, where he directed the rehabilitation of the DW & P Railroad. Following that, his services were engaged by the Federal Rail Transport Committee, reviewing applications for branch line abandonment in the Prairie Provinces. In accordance with Chants wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. His ashes will be placed in the family niche in The Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum at 1501 Waverley Street. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3B 2H8.
