RONA LEVENSTEIN It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Rona Levenstein, on Saturday, July 8, 2000, at the age of 72 following a lengthy illness. Rona will be greatly missed by her husband of 49 years, Robert; daughter Laurie Chochinov, son-in-law Bill and grandchildren, Catherine and Michael of Ottawa; and son Ralph of Toronto. She is also survived by her sister Dr. Joan (Dr. John) Goble of San Mateo, California; her brother Dr. Murray (Nancy) Hollenberg of Phoenix, Arizona; her mother-in-law Sarah Levenstein of Winnipeg; her aunts, Bernice Corbin of Miami Beach, Florida and Faye Corbin of Toronto, plus many nieces, nephews and other family members. She was predeceased by her brother Stanley Hollenberg. Rona was born in Winnipeg on April 10, 1928, to Dr. Michael and Sara Hollenberg. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba in 1948. A devoted volunteer, Rona served as President of the Israeli Chapter of Hadassah and worked for many years with the Adult Leisure Program at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, continuing a relationship with her synagogue that lasted more than 60 years. The family thanks Dr. Morris Broder, Dr. Neal Lerner and Dr. Jack Lezack along with the medical and nursing staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for the ultimate in care which they provided Rona. The continuing support of friends and the clergy and staff of Shaarey Zedek Synagogue has been invaluable to the family over many years.
