PAULINE WINKLER (nee KOWASZ) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Oma and Great-Grandmother on July 13, 2000 at Concordia Hospital at the age of 94 years. She was born May 29, 1906 in the city of Stenschutze, Poland. She was predeceased by her husband Julius in 1994 and her great-grandson Gregory in 1992, and daughter-in-law Barbara in 1992, also her parents, four brothers and one sister. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, George (Elva), Art and Helmut; grandson, Ken and wife Deloris; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jennifer, and nieces and nephews in Poland and Germany. Mother was married in 1928 to Julius and together they worked in a weaving factory in Poland and raised their children. In 1945, Mother and her two youngest children left Poland with a wagon train and resettled in Germany where she was reunited with her husband who was in the army. In 1946 she was reunited with her oldest son George who had been left in Poland. In 1953 the family immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg. Mother worked for many years at Stall & Sons from where she retired. Mother was a very loving, caring and hard working person and will be very much missed by her family, friends and all who knew her and her resourcefulness. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington Street with Pastor Christoph Reiners officiating. Interment to follow in Brookside Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Monday, July 17 from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Highway.
