NELLIE FENCE Peacefully, in her sleep, Nellie Fence, aged 99 years, passed away on July 13, 2000 at the Betel Home in Gimli. She is survived by her daughter Carol and son-in-law Frank Poborsa of Winnipeg Beach; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a sister Anne Pilatyk of Gimli. Nellie was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1975; her son Emile in 1986; her daughter-in-law Caroline in 1997; one brother and four sisters. Nellie was born in Foley on April 4, 1901 where she farmed with her husband, later retiring to Winnipeg Beach. Prayers will be said on Monday, July 17 at 7:00 p.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Winnipeg Beach. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 18 at 10:00 a.m. also in the church with Fr. Jose Cabral officiating. Interment in the Holy Rosary Cemetery. Her pallbearers will be Frank, Donald and Jason Poborsa, Scott Swirski, Randy Clark and Gerald Swirsky. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Chapnick and all the staff at Betel Home for the wonderful care given to Nellie during her stay there.
