EMILY SAGANSKY (ROMANOW) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Emily Sagansky on Tuesday, July 11, 2000 in Edmonton, Alta. She is lovingly remembered by her two sons and two daughters, Wally (Marion) of Canberra, Australia, Roma (Neil) Koziak of Sherwood Park, Michael and Andrea of Edmonton; five grandchildren, Christine (Dave) Lychak, Michaelina (David) Yaffe, Adam, Sasha and Talia Koziak. She is survived by her brother Tony Romanow of Winnipeg; her dear cousins, Carrie Galarnyk and Emily (Bill) Konopelny of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her loving husband Walter in August of 1999; her parents, Michael and Michaelina Romanow and her sister-in-law Jeanette Romanow. Emily was born in Winnipeg on July 30, 1923. In her youth she was actively involved with the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church choir. In 1946 she married Walter and in supporting his teaching profession, resided in Blaine Lake, Saskatoon, Lemsford, Coaldale, Lethbridge and eventually settling in Edmonton in 1959. As well as a mother devoted to her children and their activities, Emilys interests took on roles with the Ukrainian Catholic Womens League and as an active member of the Kensington community. As years passed on and mobility became more limited, Emily looked forward to the many outings and special occasions with the family. The grandchildren were of special delight to Baba. Prayers Monday, July 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Divine Liturgy Tuesday, July 18 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josaphats Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 10825 - 97 St., Edmonton, Alta. Very Rev. M. Planchak officiating with interment to follow at St. Michaels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sisters Servants Mary Immaculate, 9613 - 108 Ave., Edmonton, Alta.
