ELSIE DUECK (RAVEN) Peacefully, on Sat-urday, July 8, 2000 with her loving son Bruce at her side, Mrs. Elsie Dueck passed away at the Oakview Place Nur-sing Home, just a few weeks short of her 99th birthday. Elsie was born August 16, 1901 in England and immigrated to Canada at a very young age. She met and married Art Raven in 1921 and together they lived and raised their family of four boys, first in Transcona and later in St. James. When Art died in 1965 she moved back to Transcona where she had many friends. Elsie was a life member of the Transcona Legion Ladies Auxiliary as well as the Transcona Rebekah Lodge No. 40. In 1974 she married Henry Dueck and was made to feel most welcome by his family. Elsie and Henry had 20 happy years together, traveled lots and liked to play cards and bingo, until his passing in 1994. Mom was also predeceased by three sons, Art Jr., William and Ronald Raven and by three grandsons, Artie, Brucie and Steve Raven. She will be forever missed, remembered and loved by her son Bruce Raven (Elsie) her de-voted grandson Clyde Raven (Marlynn) and great-granddaughters, Krystal and Kerilee Raven of Winnipeg; her daughter-in-law Louise Raven; granddaughter Ruth (John) great-granddaughters, Melissa and Leslie of Kingston, Ont.; as well as her extended family, the Duecks. Mom has lived at Oakview Place since September, 1995. She was very happy there and participated in the daily activities up until her last two weeks. A private family service was held on Thursday, July 13 at 1:00 p.m. with interment in the Transcona Cemetery, 5014 Dugald Road, Winnipeg, Man. Our family would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff at the Oakview Place Nursing Home for their kindness, especially to the staff on 1 East. Flowers are gratefully declined.
