Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALMA MAY VAN IDERSTINE (nee CARDNO) Alma May Van Iderstine (nee Cardno). Born April 17, 1896 in Guelph, ON passed away quietly in her sleep in Calgary, AB, July 7, 2000 at the age of 104. She was predeceased by her parents, Alexander Ducat Cardno and Sarah Jane Noble, her husband, William Vernon Van Iderstine; two brothers, Alexander Baden Powell and Frederick Noble. Alma is survived by her two daughters, Margaret Bernice Norris of Toronto and Verna Mae Pollack of Calgary; by her seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She pioneered with her parents in Darlingford, MB and after the First World War, Alma moved to Winnipeg, MB where she married. As a widow she came to Calgary in 1956 to reside with her aunts, the former Nettie and Carro Cardno of 14th Ave., S.W. where she lived until 1990. Our family wishes to thank the staff of Cedar Villa Extendicare and Dr. Peter Neweduk for their tender care in her closing years. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at LEYDENS Funeral Home (17th Ave. and 2nd St., S.W.) on Saturday, July 22 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at a later date in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Let me grow Lovely growing old - So many fine things to do; Laces, and ivory, and gold; And silks, need not be new; And there is healing in old trees, Old streets a glamour hold; Why may not I as well as these, Grow lovely growing old?...K.W.
