BENTE SNELL (nee HANSEN) The family of Bente Snell wish to announce that their wife, mother and grandmother passed away with courage and dignity on July 16, 2000 at St. Annes Hospital at the age of 63 years. Bente was predeceased by her parents, Elna and Ewald Hansen; father-in-law Harold Snell. She leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory, her husband of 41 years, Dennis; her sons, Darold (Chris, Cierra and Coral) Jeff (Dagmar and Julia) her twin sister Lise (Allan) her mother-in-law Alice Snell; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Bente was born on February 14, 1937 in Denmark and came to Canada with her family in 1951. She began hairdressing at an early age and made it her lifelong career. She became the Western Supervisor for the Marvel Beauty Schools. Bente enjoyed countless hours knitting for her family and friends. She will be remembered for her love of gardening and her tireless interest in her family. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away. You suffered much in silence, You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend, But still you kept on fighting Until the very end. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, And whispered, "Come with Me." So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful, free from pain, We could not wish you back To suffer that again. Always remembered, always cherished. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Bissonette and the wonderful nursing staff at St. Annes Hospital, and to our special angels, Hilda and the residents at Paradise Village. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 19 at 10:00 a.m. from Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with Peter Friesen presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bentes memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society as tokens of remembrance. Bente is now reunited with Samantha.
