MIKE (MICKEY) MYKICHUK On July 18, 2000, aged 72, after a courageous battle with cancer, Mike passed away at the St Boniface Palliative Care Ward, with his family at his side. Prayers will be said on Thursday, July 20 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Luxton Avenue. Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 21 at 1:00 p.m., also at the Chapel, with Very Rev. Fr. John Melnyk and Deacon Alex Bodykevich officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Grandsons, Corey, Courtney, Jeff, Mike, Andrew and special friend Robbie will be honoured to be pallbearers. His memory will be lovingly cherished by his wife Helen; children, Joan Rusak (Robert), Peter, Ken (Bev), Pat Ward (Gary) grandchildren, Corey, Courtney, Jeff, Mike, Andrew, Megan, Michelle; stepbrother John Melnichuk and friend Eleanor. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Nellie; and his sister Kay. Mike was born on January 25, 1928 in Winnipeg where he resided all his life. He married Helen on November 8, 1952 and worked at Canada Packers for 37 years. After retirement, Mike and Helen enjoyed many years with their family and friends at their cottage at Grand Beach. Mike enjoyed volunteering many hours at the North Winnipeg Charitable Club and Legion No. 141. One of his great pleasures was taking his wife Helen to meet with the Garden City Mall Coffee Club. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Paul Daeninck, V.O.N. Nurse Diane, and the Palliative Care Team (Sean, Cinda and Collette) at the St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion and special care.
