Olga will always remain in my memory as one of the bravest people I have ever known. Over the course of her often-difficult life she courageously overcame many personal barriers while truly caring about the needs of others and about their rights to be treated with kindness and respect. Most of all Olga really cared about true justice, the kind that feeds people's spirits and emotions as well as their bodies with Love. That's what Olga herself did as a single mother, a grandmother, and a friend of everyone she met. Her leadership in founding the Manitoba Anti-Poverty Organization in the late seventies was the fruit of her caring advocacy and vision for low income people in Manitoba. Overcoming her own struggles by focusing on the needs and rights of others, Olga demonstrated the skill to inspire, the strength to serve selflessly, and the wisdom to model values that sustain individuals, families and whole communities in times of need. If only we could be wise enough to follow her example today. Though she passed several years ago without the many tributes she deserved her name lives on in my heart and that of many, many others. My Mom was amazing. I was the second youngest of 6 children. I grew up in North End of Winnipeg. Mountain and Aikins. I never knew we were poor until I was older. The most amazing, strongest and outspoken. I love that in any woman. And she spent her life helping others, even if she went without. Miss you Mom, like crazy. - Posted by: Shelly Foltz (Olga's Daughter) on: May 29, 2019

I was very close to Granny, she was an inspiration and she left a mark on my heart that will never go away. She was a spunky lady and always wanted a debate. Miss You !!! - Posted by: Ronni Silvari (Oldest Grandaughter) on: Aug 17, 2018

Although I had long moved away by 2000, I do remember Olga fondly. I worked for her at MAPO during the mid-80's. She had the ability to advocate for complete strangers... she worked hard for others who didnt have a voice, or who didnt know how the system. She was a very kind person to so very many disadvantaged people who walked in the door. I miss Olga, her vision, her laughter, her raspy voice. - Posted by: Ken Pauls (Former staff) on: Feb 16, 2016
