ALBERT TOEWS PENNER On Wednesday, July 19,k 2000, at the Reston Hospital, Albert Penner passed away after a courageous battle with heart disease. Albert was born on June 20, 1920 in Kleefeld, Manitoba, married Daisy Isaac in 1946 and moved to their farm near Sinclair in 1946. In 1942, he was baptized into his faith and modelled the service of his Lord for the rest of his life. Following his marriage, he farmed in the Sinclair area until 1988. During his time on the farm, he and Daisy raised four sons, enjoyed traveling with his family, and pursued his interests in community leadership and in the church. Farming, along with his family, was the enjoyment of his life. Upon their leaving the farm, Albert and Daisy moved into Reston. >From this new base, Albert continued his interest and involvement in the farm, did a lot of travelling and took up the sport of golf. Albert is lovingly remembered by his sons, Randy (Gloria), Don (Dianne), Trev (Kathy) and Barry (Brenda). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Kent, Verne, Amy, Ivan, Colleen, Bryce, Cory, Kendra, Laurae, Gayla, Jay, Andrea and Carisa. Albert is survived by his stepmother, Lottie Wiebe and his brothers and sisters, Neil (Adina), Lottie Penner, Loreen Isaac (Alfred), Mathilda Isaac (Bill), Alphae, Dave (Adeline) and brother-in-law Fred Wiebe. He will be lovingly remembered by his friends and neighbours from the Sinclair, Reston and Kola districts. He was an example to his family of brothers, sister, nephews and nieces. Albert was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Daisy, in July of 1999, by infant son, Errol, in 1948 and by sisters, Margaret Wiebe (Fred), Henrietta Wiebe (Albert, deceased), sister-in-law, Margaret Penner and brother-in-law, David Penner. Funeral services were held in Kola Evangelical Mennonite Church, on Saturday, July 22 at 2:00 p.m. with interment at 5:00 p.m. in the Reston Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Alberts family thanks the staff of Melita and Reston Hospitals for their excellent care along with their thoughtfulness towards the family during this difficult time. Carscaddens Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
