FLORENCE DEMETRUK (nee WOZNEY) Peacefully, with great courage and faith, with her family at her side, Florence passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at the Selkirk and General Hospital, at the age of 65 years. Her memories will be cherished by all her family. She leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband, Edward; her precious four children, Beverley (Dave) Zaroski and their son David; Leonard (Mary) and their children, Edward and Jane; Conrad and his children, Mitchell and Kyly; and Glenn; her sisters, Helen (Walter) Wasney, Carrie Prychun, Adeline Stefanyshyn, Rose Choboter (friend Don Kosack) her brother Edward (Judith) Wozney; brother-in-law Carman Stevens; mother-in-law Katie Demetruk; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Scully, Marge Bzovey; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and John; her stepfather Fred Poloski; sisters, Jennie Zinnick, Frances Stevenson; brothers-in-law, Alex Zinnick, Alex Kazin, Henry Stefanyshan, Peter Chaboter, Bob Scully, Peter Bzovey; and her father-in-law Peter Demetruk. Florence was born on March 8, 1935 in Garson, MB and attended school there. She came from a dedicated Christian home, believed in God, in Jesus Christ, and the Holy Catholic Church that she attended faithfully until failing health prevented her from doing so. Mom had a great love for her family, and made each and every family member feel special; she was very generous and trusting. Her greatest joy was her time spent with her children and grandchildren. They loved Babas baking; her perishke, paska, and cheesecake were the best. A prayer service will be held on Friday, July 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 22 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, East Selkirk, with Fr. Stan Gacek officiating. Interment to follow in the East Selkirk Cemetery. Her pallbearers will be Edward Wozney, Brian Prychun, Edward Demetruk, Dave Zaroski, David Zaroski, Richard Chabotor and alternate pallbearers, Wayne Prychun and Don Kozak. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the outstanding staff at the Health Sciences, Misericordia, Concordia, Grace, Seven Oaks, Victoria, Selkirk Hospital and the Selkirk Ambulance for their compassion and personal attention, also a special thanks to Dr. B. Ryckman. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, may make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the charity of ones choice. My Darling Flo, You have taken the journey we all must take, and each must go alone. You have left me alone to be with God, but you left me with four lovely children and a loving family, five beautiful grandchildren and many, many beautiful cherished memories that will never be forgotten. I will always be grateful for the love you gave and showed me. Love Ed Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
