MARGARET (RITA) WHITTLETON (nee SYNNOTT) Peacefully on July 16, 2000, Margaret Whittleton of Sanford, age 75, passed away with her family at her side, in Edmonton, Alta. Rita was born in the Free State of Ireland and trained to be a registered nurse in England. She moved to Canada in 1954 where she nursed until 1957 when she married Blake Whittleton and moved to Sanford to farm. She will be missed greatly by her husband Blake; son Roy of Gibbons, Alta.; daughter Kathleen Herkert of Sanford; son Garrett Whittleton (Heather) of Sanford and daughter Teresa Empey (Blair) of Boissevain; grandchildren, Megan and Taylor Herkert, Robert, Tanya, Colin and Carly Whittleton and Amanda, Tannis, Brian and Sarah Empey. She is survived by her sisters, Nellie Ryan, Sally Ormand and Mary Sinnott. Rita was predeceased by her brothers, Garrett, James and Richard Sinnott. Friends may call for visitation between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24, in St. Vital Roman Catholic Parish, 1629 Pembina Hwy., with the Rev. Dr. Patrick A. Morand the celebrant. Interment will be in Sanford Cemetery and an outdoor reception will follow at the residence of Garrett and Heather Whittleton; lawn chairs would be appreciated. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
