RUTH ELIZABETH McGUIRE On July 20, 2000 after a long battle with lung disease, Ruth Elizabeth McGuire passed away at the Victoria General Hospital. She was the most beloved wife for 59 years of Robert (Bob) McGuire and mother of Roberta Turner, Jon (Irene) McGuire, Marilee (Larry) Patteson and Kathleen (Barry) Steinfeld. She also leaves to mourn her passing her grandchildren, Mary Kate, Karen, David, Sean, Patrick, Meghan, Jeffrey, Sara, and Eli. Also left to mourn is her sister Nonie Leddy of Kelowna B.C. Ruth was a devoted wife and mother, a gentle soul and kind to everyone. During the war, she lived in St. Johns, Nfld., St. John, N.B., and Edmonton, Alta., following Bobs postings during his naval career. They finally settled in Winnipeg in 1948. She was a longtime member of the Crescentwood Ladies Bowling League and St. Ignatius C.W.L. and Bridge Club. Ruth loved travelling and particularly enjoyed her winter visits to Victoria, B.C. Funeral mass will be said on Tuesday, July 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. Interment and reception will follow at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice. The family gratefully thanks the staff of Unit 5 of the Victoria General Hospital for all their support and kindness.
