Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES DOUGLAS NORQUAY (JIM) 1931 - 2000 The Norquay family is sad to announce the sudden death of Jim on June 29, 2000 in Nelson, New Zealand. Jim leaves to mourn his wife Mavis; daughters, Zoe of Edmonton and Megan and grandson Ben James of Nelson; sister Bea Montgomery of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law, Nathalie Norquay of Montreal and Marion Norquay of Abbotsford, B.C., as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews who all adored him. Jim was predeceased by his mother and father, Dr. and Mrs. Horace Norquay and brothers, Harry, David and Horace and sister Ruth Stubbs. Jim was born in Battleford, Sask. and moved to Selkirk as a young child, where he took all of his schooling. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces in Europe and Canada until retirement, then worked for the D.O.T. in the High Arctic and for the Department of Indian Affairs in Winnipeg. On retirement in 1989, Jim and Mavis immigrated to New Zealand where Jim reveled in many new interests, he painted and sketched, exhibiting with the Independent Artist of Nelson. He was active in the Pakheta Lions Club of Nelson and coached in-line hockey. Jim was a good husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. All who loved him will miss his humour and wit. Interment of ashes will be at St. Andrews on the Red at a later date.
