She was predeceased by her husbands, Walter Borushynski and Fred Obenauer; brother Frank Baduk; sister Lena Zelenawich; and her only son David Walter Borushynski. Bernice was born in Margo, SK, January 30, 1916. She moved to Winnipeg in 1941 and resided here ever since. For a while she was employed at Grebb Shoes. She enjoyed visits with her family, planting flowers, and talking to her neighbours about the old times. She loved sitting outside when the weather was nice to watch the many birds and the occasional squirrel that were all around her home. She always put food out for them all year round. While she was still able, her son and granddaughters enjoyed the best homemade holubtsi and pickled beets. They made the Christmas and Easter dinners special. During some of her final years our Baba looked forward to the many visits she had with her granddaughter Kellie who took her out shopping for groceries and at many Bargain and Dollar stores that she enjoyed. She loved to go for drives and check out the many changes the city was going through, and remembering how things used to be and telling us stories of way back when. She had an excellent memory for dates, people and places that used to just amaze her granddaughters. We wish so much that you were still here to tell us more of your stories. We miss you Baba. The family would like to thank Bernices nurse Julie at 3 East for her compassion and caring and all those involved at Concordia Hospital, and a thank you to her neighbours, Shirley, Ian and Jean, Willie, Brian and Ann for their kindness and for lending a helping hand. A special thank you to John and Noreen, our Baba always appreciated your being there. A big hug goes out to you both from her. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Luxton Avenue on Tuesday, July 25 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Bernices memory may be made to the Humane Society, 5 Kent Road, Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3.
