LUCIEN GAGNE Peacefully, on Saturday, July 22, 2000, at the St. Boniface Hospital, Lucien Gagne passed away at the age of 76. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Zoe (nee DeCock) on October 11, 1981. Lucien leaves to mourn his children, Gary, Denis (Elizabeth), and Dianne (Gilles) four grandchildren, Daniel, Allison, Breanne, and Larissa. He also leaves to mourn two sisters, Antoinette Frechette and Marie-Josephe Fisette; one brother-in-law Maurice Lemoine; two sisters-in-law, Louise Gagne and Gisele Gagne; also many cherished nieces and nephews, and friends. Il fut precede par ses parents, Pierre et Eugenie, ses freres Joseph, labbe Jean-Marie, Louis, le pere Hilaire O.M.I., Olivier, Gerard et labbe Pierre; ses soeurs, Soeur Pierre-Joseph (Adelina) S.N.J.M., There Roy, Marie-Louise Gagne et Gabrielle Lemoine, ses beaux-freres Georges Frechette, Joseph et Edouard Fisette, Emile Roy, et Frank Jones; ses belles-soeurs Yvonne Gagne, Annette Gagne, et Elsie Jones. Lucien Gagne, son of Pierre Gagne and Eugenie Joubert, was born in St. Pierre, Manitoba on January 29, 1924. He proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. He married Zoe on September 2, 1950. Both Lucien and Zoe were long time members of the Belgian Club in St. Boniface. After working 27 years as a pipe fitter for Shell Oil Refinery in St. Boniface, he retired in 1983. Lucien carried his strong work ethic into retirement, and loved to help out family and friends with repairs around the home. Prayer Vigil will take place on Tuesday, July 25 at 8:00 p.m. in the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St. with Msgr. Albert Frechette presiding. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 26 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Timothy Roman Catholic Parish, 135 John Forsyth Rd., with Rev. Fr. Paul Campeau presiding. Pallbearers will be Roger Claeys, Wayne Shymko, Ryan Shymko, and Roderick Guay. Cremation will follow and a private interment of Luciens cremated remains will take place at a later date in the Belgian Sacred Heart Cemetery, 501 Plinquet St., in St. Boniface. The family would like to thank the staff on the 7th Floor and the Palliative Care Unit on the 8th Floor for the care and comfort given to our father and grandfather.
