Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETRO JUSKIW Friends and acquaintances of the Ukrainian community announce the passing, on July 22, 2000, in the Riverview Health Centre, of Petro Juskiw, after a grave illness, at the age of 86. Born on June 16, 1914 in Bilcze Zolote, Borshchiw, Ukraine, to Maxim and Fedora Juskiw, he completed secondary education then remained a domestic helper until 1941 when the soviet army enlisted him into a heavy wartime discomfort. In 1942 he was taken to Germany where he was a captive labourer until the end of the war. In 1949 he had the fortune to travel to England where he obtained work. There he was a member of the Ukrainian Alliance of Great Britain. On April 17, 1950, he arrived in Quebec via the ship Samaria and went on to Winnipeg where he settled on a fairly permanent basis. His work experiences took him to Saskatchewan and Ontario but his longest time was spent working at the C.N.R. until his retirement. Petro had always made himself obligated to Ukrainian ethnicity and tried to regularly support UCC, Oseredok-Ukrainian Cultural & Educational Centre and Holy Family Nursing Home for which he was granted honorary recognition. The late Petro Juskiw is survived by two sisters in Ukraine, Paraskevia and Sophia, as well as several nephews and nieces. Rest in peace friend Petro and may the Canadian soil be your everlasting care. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., Father Michael Kouts celebrating. Entombment will take place at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. Acting pallbearers are Petro Suchaski, Miroslaw Lobas, Orest Wilganosky, John Kropolnycki, Mike Ustynowsky and Bill Boyko.
