MARY PATRICIA SPEIRS On Sunday July 23, 2000 Mary Patricia (Pat) Speirs of Manitou, Man. passed away very peacefully at the age of 86. Mum was born in Manitou, November 19, 1913. Her and her twin brother Mike were the second youngest of 12 children. She lived in Manitou all her life with exception to the last two weeks when she and dad moved to the Charleswood Care Centre in Winnipeg due their failing health. Mum and dad would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on December 28, 2000. Mum had many special memories of her life. Some of her fondest times were summers at Carlyle Lake with her sister Jean, summers at the old "duck camp" on Grassy Lake, and being with many friends in Manitou to include the Grandmas Club. Mum and dad were able to stay in their own place with help from many special friends, people, and businesses in Manitou. Mum wanted a special thank you extended to Tom and Irene Chalmers and the Manitou home care workers for their help, kindness and consideration through her later years. Predeceased by three sisters and seven brothers and survived by brother Bill Chalmers of Vancouver. Left to fondly remember her are her husband William Vernon (Pete) son Greg and Connie of Winnipeg, grandson Darren, Margo and great granddaughter Delainey of Calgary, grandson Trevor and Tracey of Winnipeg; sisters-in-law, Ena Chalmers of Broadview Sask. and Elsie Helgason of Morden and many nieces and nephews. With respect for mums wishes, cremation has taken place. A small graveside service will take place at the Manitou Cemetery on Wednesday July 26 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dan Hanson officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pembina Manitou Foundation, Box 228, Manitou, Man., R0G 1G0. Adams Funeral Home of Notre Dame, Man. in care of arrangements. 204-248-2201 or 1-888-400-2326.
