Ralph was predeceased by his wife, Concetta; father Joseph; mother Chiara and sister Maria Cantafio. He leaves to mourn his passing; daughters, Clara Maltby (husband, Francis), Josephine Mots (husband, Bob) sons, Joseph Donato (wife, Lori) and Thomas Donato (wife, Charlene). "Grandpa" will be sorely missed by his grandchildren, Dylan and Erica Maltby, Danny and Kara Mots, Colin, Jocelyn and Michelle Donato. Also left to cherish his memory are, his brother, Gaetano Donato (Margherita) of Edmonton; aunt, Adelina Donato also of Edmonton; brother-in-law, Ralph Scerbo (Dora) of Kamloops, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ralph was born on August 6, 1927 in Amato, Italy. He came to Winnipeg, originally settling in Transcona. The family later moved to Fort Rouge and finally to St. Vital. Ralph was employed by C.N.R, for 39 years. One might also find him repairing shoes in the garage. He worked hard to provide a good life for his family. Ralph enjoyed bowling with his league friends at Dakota Lanes, mall walking in St. Vital Centre and growing vegetables in his garden. He was a member of the Fratellanza Amatese Club and sometimes went to their social functions. Ralph was a very quiet unassuming man. He was shy and enjoyed the solitude of home. Ralph had a strong, sustaining faith and was part of the church community of Christ The King. The family was Ralphs life. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly; and especially missed the loving presence of his wife, Connie. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, love and support during this difficult time. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Christ The King Roman Catholic Church, 847 St. Marys Road. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, July 27 at 10:00 a.m. also in Christ The King Church. The Rev. Fr. Gerry Ward presiding.
