WILLIAM GALLOWAY McDONALD June 13, 1915 - July 24, 2000 Peacefully, in Calgary, in the morning, after a short illness. Predeceased by his parents and his sister Helen, Galloways memory is cherished by his wife Ethel, his sons Craig and Bill, all of Calgary, and by his sister Margaret (Wally) Koltek of Fort Garry, Manitoba. Galloway was born to Ellen Whiteford and David Marshall McDonald in St. James, Manitoba, the second of three children, and grew up in St. Vital, Manitoba. He was employed from 1935 until his retirement in 1978 by the Bank of Toronto and its successor, the Toronto Dominion Bank, except for military service throughout the Second World War. He retired as Manager of the 8th Avenue and 8th Street S.W. branch of the Toronto Dominion Bank in Calgary. Galloway married Ethel Lennard on July 1, 1944, in St. Vital, Manitoba. They have two sons, Craig and Bill, and lived in Winnipeg, Yellowknife, Edmonton, Regina and Calgary during his banking career. It is an understatement that Galloway enjoyed golf, the game and its camaraderie. A low handicapper, he was club champion at St. Boniface Golf Club in 1944, Yellowknife Golf Club in 1951, and Wascana Golf Club in Regina in 1954. He was President of St. Boniface Golf Club in 1944 and a member of the Calgary Golf and Country Club since 1956. Cremation. Memorial service will be announced later. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, donations in Galloways memory may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, 2nd floor, 215-12 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 1A2.
