EMMA (MICKEY) BALSHAW

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMMA (MICKEY) BALSHAW (nee MICHELSON) Peacefully at the Victoria Hospital on Monday, July 24, 2000 at the age of 97. She was predeceased by her husband Fred in 1970. Mickey will be lovingly remembered by her son Michael and wife Barbara; grandchildren, Robert (Mary Ann), Barbara (Neal Dow), Laura (Kevin Gisti) and David; four great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Mickey was born in Thief River, MN. Her family moved to the Weston area of Winnipeg around 1910. She married Fred and they settled in St. Vital where they raised their son. They were members of Regents Park United Church. Mickey was a long time member of the Winnipeg Canoe Club, where she golfed until she 82. Other activities with friends included bowling and bridge. These last three years, she has lived with Michael and Barbara, and Barbara Johnston in their St. Vital home. The family would like to thank the Home Care workers and Victoria Hospital Staff for their kindness and care. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 27 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, M.S. Society, or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
