JAMES LANGFORD SWAIN FEBRUARY 7, 1935- JULY 24, 2000 Peacefully at his home on Monday, July 24, 2000 the Lord called our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, Pastor and friend home. He will be lovingly remembered by his soulmate of 43 years, Maria; daughters, Brenda (Lindsay), Wanda (Francis), Mabel (Gerald), Lorna, Rachel and Susan; sons Langford (Tracy), Doyle (Maureen), Mark, Lemuel (Ernestine), Percy (Emerance) and Shelly (Lorna), three brothers, Jacob (Gloria), Douglas (Carrie) and Leonard; two sisters, Rebecca and Mary (Tony) 31 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. James was predeceased by his father William Swain on June 28, 1979, his mother Margaret Swain on November 15, 1968. Brother Joseph Swain on June 15, 1993, grandchildren, Timothy Green on April 20, 1994, Laurie Everett on August 26, 1989 and Margaret Swain on November 12, 1990. James was born and raised in Berens River. He served as Chief and as councillor for the Berens River First Nation, was a fisherman and a bus driver for many years. He served as a Pastor for the Revival and Restoration Church and was a faithful follower in the Lord for 40 years. He will be sadly missed by numerous friends, relatives and especially his congregation. " For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge will give to me on that day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved his appearing." 2 Timothy 4: 6-8 Pallbearers, John D. Berens, Vernon Flett, Charlie Bittern, Lindsay Semple, Francis Hudson and Gerald Green. Wake services will be held at the Revival and Restoration Church on Tuesday, July 25, Wednesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 27. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 28 also at the Revival and Restoration Church with Pastor Robert McLean officiating. Interment to follow at the Berens River Cemetery.
