NICHOLAS (NICK) HENKEWICH Peacefully, on Tuesday, July 25, 2000 at the Betel Home, Selkirk, Nick passed away at the age of 83 years. He will be dearly remembered by his loving family, brothers, Steve (Diane), John (Dolly), Harry (Betty) of Winnipeg, Bill (Kay) of Beausejour; two sisters, Ann (Peter) Manko and Mary Stanke of Selkirk; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Nick was predeceased by his parents, Metro and Hafia; his brother Mike; sister (Kay) sister-in-law Marion; and brother-in-law John Stanke. Nick was born on November 23, 1916 in Libau, MB, where he lived and farmed most of his life, until moving to the Betel Home in 1992. Besides farming, he also worked at Abex Industries for 18 years, and was a life member of the Holy Trinity Church in Poplar Park, MB. A prayer service will be held on Friday, July 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 29 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church, with Very Rev. Fr. Henry Lakusta officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. His pallbearers will be his nephews. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at the Betel Home and Dr. Dittberner for the care shown to Nick. If so desired, donation may be made in Nicks memory to the Holy Trinity Church or the Betel Home, Selkirk. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
