OLGA ZACHARKOW (nee WLADYKA) April 14, 1920 - July 23, 2000 Peacefully, on July 23, 2000, my beloved mother passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 80. Her memory will be lovingly cherished by her son John; brother George Wladyka, brother Michael Wladyka (Ruth) sisters-in-law, Ann Wladyka (Bill), Ann Wladyka (John) numerous nieces, nephews, other family, cousins, friends; and she will be greatly missed by her special and loving cat Cleo. Olga was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Alex, Bill, Nellie, John, Anne and Kay. Mom was born and raised in north Winnipeg. She was very active in sports in her early years and loved to sing in church choirs. She was an active member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church until the last few years and certainly loved to play Bingo at the church hall. She met and married her husband Michael (Findlay) in 1944 and they enjoyed many years of happiness until his death in 1972. She worked as a cashier at Gambles and Safety Drugs and also working in the catering business for many years at the Glendale Country Club and other city caterers. Mom enjoyed travelling, especially to Seattle to visit her brother Michael and his family many times. She will be greatly remembered for her baking, especially her famous pineapple and coffee cakes. Mom was a very caring and giving person who won the hearts of many people with her vibrant personality, boundless energy and great sense of humour. The family would like to thank Dr. Donald Miller for the special care he gave Mom. It was greatly appreciated. Flowers are welcome, however a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Mom, you were the best mother anyone could have and I miss you greatly and will think of you everyday. Till we meet again in Heaven. Love, John Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Luxton Avenue, with interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements 586-8044.
