Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN BASS November 8, 1921 - July 26, 2000 It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Auntie. With her family at her side, Helen left us to join her beloved husband Mickey. Helen was born and raised in Winnipeg. She attended Lord Nelson and Isaac Newton and after completing high school, entered the work force, working initially with Wilsons Stationary and subsequently with the City of East Kildonan. Helen was an accomplished trumpet player and played for many years with the Orangeman Band, amongst others. Helen was an avid 5 pin bowler and along with many friends, bowled at the M.A.C. Bowling Alley at 430 Selkirk Avenue. This facility was owned and operated by her future husband Mickey Bass. Helen married her beloved husband Mickey Bass and together they had two children, Michael and Janie. Helen was actively involved in her growing childrens activities, family and family time was always an important facet of her life. Helen enjoyed gardening, nature, ceramics, sketching, music and helping her husband Mickey in the construction of their summer cottage at Gull Lake. Helen was never afraid of hard work, and her work ethic was a genetic trait acquired from her parents William and Mary Chambers who predeceased her. Helens work ethic was passed on to her children and grandchildren and will hold them in good stead. Helen will be missed by all who knew her, and will especially be sadly missed by her family, daughter, Janie; son Michael (Debi) grandchildren, Cara, Mathew; brother Joe (Joyce) Chambers, and brother-in-law Eugene Uhryniuk; nieces Dee-Dee Goodwin, Linda Vandall, Jackie Chambers; nephews, David Chambers, Dale Chambers, Wayne Chambers, Eugene Uhryniuk. Helen will be sadly missed by her devoted Great Dane, Tazzy. Helen was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Chambers; her husband Mickey; her sisters, Bertha (Jack), Jean; and brothers, Wally, Tony (Olga), Michael (Nadine) and Hank (Frances). Abiding by Moms wishes, a private family service took place followed by cremation. Should friends so desire, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 100 Olivia Street. We Love You Momma
