Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDR. HERMAN OLAF JOHAN OVERGAARD Passed away peacefully, at the age of 80, at Grand River Hospital, Waterloo, ON in the early morning of July 20, 2000. Son of the late Johanna and Haakon Overgaard, Winnipeg; beloved husband of Barbara for 51 years; inspirational father of Grant, Linda and Mark; brother of Hjordis and Sigvald of Winnipeg and Dag and Pat of Vancouver; brother-in-law of Florence, Winnipeg. Remembered by nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Predeceased by brother Edmund Overgaard. Herman began teaching at W.L.U. in 1947 and was the first director of its Business Department. He received his PhD from Columbia University in 1960 and was an advocate of international business. In May, he was awarded an honorary doctor of laws by W.L.U. He was a charter member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Waterloo. Herman was as proud of his Norwegian heritage as he was of being Canadian. He was an educator of educators, and was totally dedicated to his family, friends and "his" school. He cared about everyone and his presence will be dearly missed. Funeral services have taken place. Donations to the Herman Overgaard Scholarship at the Wilfrid Laurier University School of Business, Waterloo or Mount Zion Lutheran Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
