BERNICE LILLIAN CARTHY (nee WATKINS) On Wednesday, July 26, 2000, after a lengthy illness, Bernice passed away at Meadowood Manor, Ste. Annes Road, Winnipeg. Bernice is survived by her loving and devoted husband Harry; her children, Darlene Martel (Paul), son Gerald (Patricia), Donna Kell (Gerald), Gaye Massey (David), and son Kevin Carthy; her grandchildren, Nicole Woelcke (Gerald), Candace Senato (Anthony), Colette Martel (Alan Macdonald), David Kell (Tracy), Nicole Crowl, Cherie Noel Crowl, Chad Andrew Carthy; her great-grandchildren, Samantha Senato, Tayler Woelcke, Sierra Senato, Kelsey Laduzinski, Nicholas Senato, Megan and Liam Macdonald, Alexa Woelcke and Tyler Laduzinski. Also by her sister Vera DuGuay (Walter), her brother Toby Watkins (Audrey), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bernice was born in 1919, one of 17 children in Fort Rouges Watkins family. Mom devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, and Harry, her beloved husband. "Her hands could tell a thousand stories of tear-stained faces and feverish foreheads, of the baking of sweets and special treats, They know a mothers worry and the want to hold her babies when shes got to let them go. Her hands could tell a thousand stories, A thousand sad, silly, happy stories, and all of them would end the same, with love." A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, August 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Emile Church, 556 Ste. Annes Rd. The family would like to express our thanks to the staff at Meadowood Manor for their care and kindness to Mom for the past ten years. A special thanks to our father Harry Carthy for the love and devotion he gave to our mother for 61 years. We are blessed to have you Dad.
