GLEN MARSHALL CAMPBELL 26 April 1967 - 30 July 2000 While fully expecting him to continue hamming it up for at least 50 more years, we are sad to announce to the world that Glen was quickly taken from our presence on Sunday morning. A non - treatable brain tumour had come to affect him. Prior to July 20, Glen enjoyed a fully effective and independent life, connected to his beloved family and a host of enthusiastic friends and co-workers. Indeed, all of these surrounded his sick bed during every moment of his time at the HSC/ICU. We are devastated by the unwanted void we feel in losing him. However, we must claim our deep love of his character and our pride in his strength. Glen was born to Ethel and Paul Campbell in Virden, MB, and besides his parents, is survived by sisters, Julia Campbell (Dean Mayer) and Sheila (Trevor Baziuk) and his adoring nieces and nephews, Michael, Liam, Hannah, Sean and Rachel. Also, Glens love has been enjoyed by a wider circle of relatives including great-Aunt Erma Wesloski, great-Aunt Dorothy Campbell, senior cousin Deryck Overend, Aunt Ruth Campbell and Uncles Al, Doug, Bob and Bill Kinley and their partners and children. Glen was educated in Morden, MB, Oxford, England, Regina, SK, and Winnipeg. He had been employed in an exotic variety of circumstance including newspaper sales, cookie distribution, lumber yard mule, paper hanging, drywalling, bartending, bouncing, wrestling, acting, music making, late night radio commentary, warehouse management, baby sitting, vacuum cleaner sales, computer composition and journalism. Glen graduated from the Creative Communications program at the Red River Community College in 1991. Since that time he has put his originality to use in several venues including Print It!, freelance design and layout, and (currently) the Pre-Press department of the Winnipeg Free Press. He was an active member of the local Press Club, contributing especially to the team sports programs. It is difficult to imagine the future without his wild and sturdy presence, but we have much to celebrate about his too-brief but awfully fine life. Glen will be remembered for countless reasons including a love for baseball, curiosity about golf, the enjoyment of jazz and blues, creating limitless nicknames for his friends, inventing of word games, imaging life in unconventional ways, bear hugging, arguing, enjoying parties, stage diving, teasing his mother, and protecting his buddies. Glen has been a life-giver and joy provider. As a result of multiple organ donation, he continues to provide life. We thank God for him. A celebration of his life and a reception are planned for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 3 at Regents Park United Church, 613 St. Marys Road. Flowers gratefully declined. Also, to honour the Great Hambino, a gathering will occur at the Pyramid Club on Thursday evening. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPEL 783-7211
