STELLA DUNN Mrs. Stella Dunn of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of Mr. Herbert Dunn, passed away in Medicine Hat on Sunday, July 30, 2000 at the age of 84 years. Stella is survived by her son Theodore of Medicine Hat; dear friend Daylene Neveu of Okotoks, AB, as well as Daylenes children, Henry of Okotoks, AB and Marc of Toronto, ON. Stella is also survived by two brothers, Frank (Laura) Hewlko of Winnipeg, MB, Ed Howelko of Matlock, MB; two sisters, Ann (Bill) Edge of Winnipeg, Isabell (Fred) LeReverend of Victoria, BC; one brother-in-law, Art (Connie) Dale of Wymark, SK as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Joanne Howelko, and one sister Jean Dale. Stella was born on July 12, 1916 in Winnipeg. She was raised in the village of Matlock. Stella was the first woman from her district to complete high school and go on to receive a college degree. She paved the way for many others to follow in her footsteps. Stella began teaching at Camperville, Manitoba in 1935 at the age of 19 years. She married her companion Herbert Dunn in August of 1955. Together with her family, Stella moved to Medicine Hat in 1967 where she has since resided. A funeral service was held in Medicine Hat, AB on Wednesday, August 2. Friends and family may call from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 3 at All Saints Anglican Church, Matlock. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 4, at All Saints Anglican Church, Matlock. Rev. Ken Pawluk will officiate with interment to follow in St. Williams Cemetery. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald Street. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of the arrangements.
