Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRIS HEINRICHS Chris Heinrichs, beloved wife of Ben W. Heinrichs, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2000 with her family at her side. She is survived by her husband Ben; two sisters, Susan and Mary; her children, Bill (Carol), Ron (Mary), Dolores, Ken (Karen) grandchildren, Cindy, Debbie, Brad, Monty, Angela, Danny, Bret, Sheldon, Sherald, Charmaine, Laura, Caitlin, ten great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three brothers, sisters, Nettie, Helen and Anne and a daughter Barbara Ann. Mom was born Katharina Abrams on October 21, 1915 to Henry and Helen Abrams. She spent her early childhood on the farm in Strassbourg. Around the age of six, she and her family moved to Mexico, where they stayed for two years. Upon their return, the family settled in Halbstadt, where Mom attended school as much as possible while helping on the family farm. Mom married Dad on July 18, 1938 in Winnipeg. They lived in Tyndall, MB till 1941, where her first child was born. In the fall of 1941 they returned to Altona where she gave birth to four more children. While Dad worked hard at establishing his own business, Mom spent her time doing the things she loved best, raising her children, gardening, cooking and entertaining family and friends. As a young woman, Mom learned to play guitar and harmonica. Many nights were spent with family and friends playing and singing. She had a great zest for life and enjoyed the company of many like-minded friends. She loved to correspond with people and up until the last year of her life, maintained close relationships from her early years in Altona. Above all, Mom was a friend, always there when you needed her. She opened her heart and home to many a friendless person. She left us a legacy of love and laughter which will ring in our hearts and minds forever. Reluctantly, we gave Mom up to our Heavenly Father, the One she worshipped in her own quiet way. We will sadly miss her and joyously remember the good times we spent together. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Eastview Place for their wonderful care of Mom and to the doctors and nurses of Altona Hospital for their compassionate support during our mothers last days. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the staff and residents of Eastview Place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 5 at 2:00 p.m. from the Rhineland Pioneer Centre in Altona, MB with interment of cremated remains to follow at the Halbstadt Cemetery. Wiebe Funeral Home Altona 1-204-324-5404 in care of arrangements.
