KATHERINE (TENA) DYCK 1918 - 2000 Katherine Dyck of Winnipeg, formerly of Horndean, Man., passed away peacefully with her family at her side, after a lengthy illness, at the Riverview Health Centre, on August 1, 2000. Katherine was born November 5, 1918, to William and Cornelia Friesen. Her marriage in 1944 resulted in four children. She devoted a great deal of time loving, caring and raising her family. Katherine was predeceased by her parents, her twin sister Anna in 1918, brother William in 1925, sister Henrietta in 1925, sister Mary in 1983, sister Anna in 1993 and grandson Mathew Dyck in 1990. Katherine will be lovingly remembered by sons, Henry of Winnipeg, John (Pauline) of Winnipeg, Ben (Betty) of Morden, Man.; daughter Ruth Derksen (Lorne) of Winnipeg; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister Kornelia Stoesz (John) of Winkler and many nieces and nephews. In tears we watched you sinking We watched you fade away You suffered much in silence You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage Your spirit did not bend But you still kept on fighting Until the very end. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be So He put His arms around you And whispered,"Come with Me." So when we saw you sleeping So peacefully, free from pain, We would not wish you back To suffer that again. Mom, you will live on forever in our hearts and you will be deeply missed. We love you. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Concordia Hospital, Riverview Health Centre 3 East, Carolyn Blieske, Angie and Keisha for their care and comfort. Viewing will be held at the church prior to the service. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 4, 2:00 p.m. at the Winkler Sommerfeld Mennonite Church with Rev. Abe Wiebe officiating. Interment will follow at the Rosenheim Cemetery. Wiebe Funeral Home, Winkler in care of arrangements. 204-325-4201.
