JAMES PEDEN James William Edward Peden died suddenly on Wednesday, July 26, at age 86, in Thunder Bay. He was born in 1913 in Stonewall, Manitoba, one of a family of 11 children. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Verna Peden; his sisters Barbara Lawrence of Winnipeg, MB; his children Mary Lois Alpers of Stonewall, MB, James Brian (Pearl) Peden of Thunder Bay, Barbara Lynne Evans (Douglas) of Portland, ON, Anita Lillian Wong (Jean) of Thunder Bay and Keith David (Nicola) Peden of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Bev Galbraith (Ross), Lori Maloney (Richard), Andrea McParland (Bill), Clark (Gretchen) Evans, Hope Evans, Shane, Alan and Amy Wong, Hilary and Fiona Peden; and great grandchildren Kirsten and Kevin Galbraith and Liam Maloney; plus numerous nieces and nephews. He left the farming life of Manitoba as a young man in the early 1940s and went to work in the forest industry in Ontario in various capacities for over 50 years. In addition to his work, he devoted himself to family and friends for his whole life. He enjoyed his garden, his basement workshop and preparing firewood. He was a faithful member of his church. A memorial service will be held at Lakeview Presbyterian Church on Monday, July 31 at 11:00 a.m. It was his wish that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lakeview Presbyterian Memorial Fund. You left us with many happy memories which we will treasure forever. We love you!
