HELGA GUDNY NICHOL (JOHNSON) Peacefully, on August 3, 2000 at Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall, Man. after a lengthy illness at the age of 71. Helga was born in Lundar, Man. on November 9, 1928. She is survived by husband Earl; sons, Larry (Val) of Chetwynd, B.C., Blaine (Leona) of Winnipeg, Craig (Laurie-Ann) of Winnipeg and daughters, Tanis (Ken Wilson) of Stony Mountain, Maureen (Don Hartshorne) of Winnipeg, Karen (Doug McMurray) of Stony Mountain; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Eileen (Jim Crockatt) brother Kris (Gladys) Johnson and Dennis (Liisa) Johnson and sister-in-law Lil. She was predeceased by her mother Olaf and father Laurus Johnson; brothers, Eric and Bill Johnson and sister-in-law Jeanette. Helga married Earl in 1952 and they raised their family in Warren. She was a life member of the Warren Curling Club, the golf club and Warren U.C.W. and was also a member of the Warren and district history book committee. She always enjoyed having her family around and loved to knit, read, cook and bake. Helga will be lovingly remembered by family and friends in the community. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 8 at 10:30 a.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Deborah Vitt will officiate. Many thanks to the staff at Rosewood Lodge and Stonewall and District Hospital for their kindness and caring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba.
