DOROTHY JEAN PHILLIPS Peacefully on August 2, 2000, Dorothy Jean Phillips passed away at Salem Home in Winkler, Man., at the age of 80 years, beloved wife of the late Sid Phillips of Roland, Man. Dorothy was born on November 10, 1919 in Scotland to parents, James and Mina Lawrie. She spent her younger years in the Miami, Man. area, moving to Winnipeg in 1940. She married Sid Phillips on October 26, 1946 and they farmed at Myrtle until retiring to Roland in 1978. She enjoyed being with her family and also her involvement in community groups and their activities. Dorothy is survived by her son Glenn Phillips of Roland; daughter Brenda Traynor and husband Mel; granddaughters, Leanne and Stacey Traynor, all of Winnipeg; and by one sister Iris McConnell of Peterborough, Ont. She was predeceased by her husband Sid (1991), her parents, her sister Ivy Wake and her brother Jim Lawrie. Funeral service will be held from the Roland United Church in Roland on Monday, August 7 at 2:00 p.m., with Chuck Ross officiating. Interment will take place in the Fairview Cemetery, Roland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, Box 119 Winkler, MB R6W 4A4. Doyles Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
