Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryREV. JUVENALIJ (GEORGE) SLOTA, O.S.B.M. On August 3, 2000 Rev. Father Juvenalij George Slota, O.S.B.M. of Mundare, AB passed away at the age of 91 years. He is survived by his brothers, Steve Kitchener, Walter (Mary) and Harry (Anne) of Toronto, Bill of Hamilton, Paul and Mervin (Mary) of Winnipeg, and Theodore of Toledo, Ohio; numerous nephews and nieces; also members of the Basilian Order. He was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Parascevia, brother Mike, sister Pauline and sisters-in-law, Lena, Helen and Pearl. He was born on April 16, 1909 in Pine Ridge, MB. For 75 years Fr. Juvenalij was a a faithful member of the Order of St. Basil the Great of St. Josaphat. He entered the Basilian Orders novitiate in Mundare, AB in 1925, professed Solemn Vows in 1932, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1937. During his 63 years of priesthood, he served in many Ukrainian Catholic parishes throughout Canada, but he will be particularly remembered for his love of visiting the elderly and sick in their homes and in hospitals, a vocation of love he fulfilled tirelessly until just several weeks before his death. Special thanks to Sr. Eugenia Stefaniuk S.S.M.I. and the staff of Mary Immaculate Hospital in Mundare for their loving care of Fr. Juvenalij during his final illness. Prayer service Monday, August 7 at 7:00 p.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Mundare where a memorial Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 8 at 10:00 a.m. Most Reverend Bishop Lawrence Huculak, O.S.B.M. and the Basilian Fathers will be the celebrants. Funeral Divine Liturgy Wednesday, August 9 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Winnipeg, celebrated by Most Reverend Metropolitan Michael Bzdel, C.Ss.R. and the Basilian Fathers with interment in the Basilian Fathers section of Holy Family Cemetery.
