ANEITA GERTRUDE FLETCHER (nee SNYDER) Peacefully, on August 4, 2000 at the age of 83, at Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital in Stonewall, our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away. Aneita will be sadly missed by her children Brian and wife Helene of Calgary, Pat and husband Ed Guest of Winnipeg, grandchildren Kyle (Erin), Becky (Kelly), Wade (Tannis), Mandy (John) and Angie (Joel) Great-grandchildren, Kian, Savannah and Lochlain; sisters Dorothy (Cec) Sanburn and Frances (Raymond) Crawford, brother-in-law Donald Fletcher and sister-in-law Iris Fletcher as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Duncan in April, 1958, her father Harry in 1971 and her mother Mary in 1981. Aneita was born on July 3, 1917 at Gilbert Plains, Manitoba. The family moved to Argyle in 1929 where she resided until attending Normal School in 1936. After graduation she taught school in Erinview, Glencairn, Little Argyle and Brooklands. Aneita married Duncan Fletcher on November 17, 1945 and, with him, farmed in the Argyle area until his death in 1958. She returned to teaching in September of 1958 at Brant School in Argyle and continued there until her retirement in 1982. She had remained on the farm until 1968, at that time moving to Stonewall. Aneita was an extremely active member of her community and church. Although her interests were many and varied, including lawnbowling, curling, dancing, travelling and playing cards, her greatest commitment was to her family. Her concern for others was demonstrated through her involvement in the Stonewall United Church, the Eastern Star, the Legion Auxiliary and the Acadia Rebekah Lodge for whom she had travelled the province as Grand Noble. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital whose caring and compassionate treatment of Aneita and family made a difficult ordeal manageable. Funeral Services will be held at Stonewall United Church at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8 with Reverend Marc Whitehead officiating. Interment will take place at Argyle Cemetery. If friends so desire donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Stonewall United Church or Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital. Mackenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
