ETHEL GERTRUDE CRAIK (SAMSON)
Born: May 07, 1919
Date of Passing: Aug 01, 2000
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryETHEL GERTRUDE CRAIK (nee SAMSON) May 7, 1919 to August 1, 2000 Together Again He took her hand in his and said, "Ive been very patient, enough is enough, and the time has come for you to join me in a pain free world." Ethel Gertrude Craik (Samson) has been reunited with William James Craik once again and we know that they will jointly watch over us that remain. Predeceased by her husband and all of her brothers and sisters, Ethel fought a long, hard struggle to see her family grow and finally gave up the fight on Tuesday, August 1, 2000. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Gayle Craik of Delta, BC, Joanne Cowan of Winnipeg; her sons, Jim Craik of Brandon, Les Craik (Marianne) of Surrey, B.C and Doug Craik of Winnipeg. She had a large family of grandchildren who loved and mourn her, Marsha Donnelly (Wayne) of Florida, Martin and Michael (Cheryl) Craik of Winnipeg, Shannon (Phil) Trickett, Charlene (Jason) Burland, Kirk Cowan, Lesli Lynn Craik of Edmonton, Tauna Craik of Winnipeg and Sarah Schwartz of Winnipeg. She thrived with each birth of her great-grandchildren - the last whose birth she anxiously awaited and kept her promise to be here for. Nana opened her heart and home to include in her grandchildren, Kathy (David) Hodgson, of Winnipeg, Renate Roy of BC, Rachel (Shane) Williams of Shilo. Her many nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters in-laws, and all her extended family (those who enriched her life by choosing to call her Mom/Nana), whose lives she followed and cried tears of joy and sadness with over the years were held highly in her heart. Mom was blessed over the years with very good friends and we the family would like to say a special thanks to them all for their support and a extra special thank you to Aunty Dorothy LaLonde for her unwavering devotion and hours of sitting by Mothers side. The family wishes also to thank the many Health Care attendants that helped Ethel to have comfort in her last year of life, the staff at the Golden West Centennial Lodge where she enjoyed the programs and received such wonderful care, the staff of Grace General Hospital who helped make her last days as comfortable as possible, and the family also thanks Dr. Gooi for having the understanding to allow Mom to live her final months as she chose at home with her family until it was no longer possible to respect those wishes. We know you are watching over us Mom and Dad, and although sad at our loss, we take enjoyment in knowing that you are once again together stronger in your union to guide us through the remaining years. Rest In Peace. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 5 at 4:30 p.m. at Crestview United Church, 316 Hamilton Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that if you wish to do so, make a donation to the Salvation Army Golden West Centennial Lodge or the Salvation Army Grace General.
