Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET MINNIE (MIN) SHAVER Suddenly but peacefully, on August 1, 2000, at her residence, Margaret Minnie (Min) Shaver passed away at the age of 75. She was predeceased by her husband Hill Shaver in 1999. Min is survived by her daughter Diane (Grant) Berge, grandchildren, Thor (Louise) Berge and great-grandchild Allison; Chris (Amelia Brittain) Berge and great-grandchildren, James, Hillary and Royce; son William (Kathy) Shaver; son Robert (Joanne) Shaver, grandchildren, Michaela and Stephanie; cousins, Kathleen (Kae) De Rocquigny, Margaret Fearns and Vivian Fearns; sisters-in-law, Rachel Wazny and Irene Ladell and numerous relatives. Min was born on August 13, 1924, to William and Margaret Rae in Neepawa where she grew up and finished her schooling. She moved with her mother to Winnipeg in the early forties and worked at the Hudson Bay Company where she met Hill. They were married on July 17, 1945, after Hill returned from the war and lived in the Wolseley area. They lived in East Kildonan in the 50s and 60s where she was active in St. Stephens Anglican Church, especially with Girl Guides and Boy Scouts. In 1966 they moved to Windsor Park and she worked in the Southdale Dominion store. In 1975 they moved to Selkirk and when Hill retired in 1980 they became involved in the Manitoba Hydro retirees club. At this time they made many trips to visit family and friends. After Hills passing in 1999, Min moved to Appleton Estates in Winnipeg and got to spend a lot of special time with her granddaughters. She fiercely maintained her independence despite failing health. In fact, just last week she had flown to Calgary and Edmonton to visit close relatives. She had a wonderful time and was looking forward to many more trips. Min was always making friends and loved having long conversations. Her quick wit, silly quips, sense of humour and love of laugher were her gift to her family and friends. She was fiercely proud of her childrens accomplishments and had always encouraged them to get involved in a wide range of activities. She loved being with her grandchildren, hosting family dinners, canning the huge harvest of the garden in Selkirk, bowling, playing bingo and watching detective shows. Lately, she especially enjoyed her new friends at the St. Vital Y Seniors Day Club and Appleton Estates. Pallbearers will be chosen from her immediate family. Any of her many friends and her relatives may consider themselves as honorary pallbearers. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 5, at 1:30 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road, with Pastor Dean Andersen officiating. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made in the name of Min Shaver to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, Man., R3C 0S6. Her life was better because of the advances in Diabetes treatment. GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
