ANGELA URSEL (nee GILLERLAIN) Peacefully at the Golden Links Lodge, on August 3, 2000, Angela died at the age of 88 years. Angela leaves to mourn her son Bob (Sandie) daughters, Rosemary (Don) and Jane; grandchildren, Karen (Peter), Rob, Jill (Harold), Debbie (Sean), Craig (Carol), Tracy and Mark; great-grandchildren, Jadon, Carter, April and Chloe. She also leaves her sister, Wyn Gass, a sister-in-law Ruth (Jack) Buchanan and dear friend and neighbour Jean Kenyon. She was predeceased by her husband Charles in 1997. Mom was born in Manitou, the first daughter of Robert and Lillian Gillerlain. Upon graduation from Normal School, Angela taught in rural Manitoba where she met Charles, her husband to be. After their marriage they lived in Selkirk for several years, moving to Winnipeg in 1942. As Angela and Charles were both teachers, their children enjoyed many summers of travelling with them around North America, informally furthering their education. After the birth of their children, Angela taught kindergarten to neighbouring children in her own home. In addition to her teaching career, Angela was very active in her community, Holy Cross Church, Champlain Community Club, and numerous volunteer activities. Upon her retirement, she devoted many years teaching English as a second language at the International Centre. Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 5 at the Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc Street, with Father James Gray presiding. A private family interment will take place at Assumption Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Links Lodge for their attentive care over the years. In lieu of flowers, for those who so wish, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Street, Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3.
