DORIS M. BAKER (nee COCHRANE) On August 4, 2000, at the age of 92, Doris Baker, widow of Clarke, passed away peacefully in her sleep at West Park Manor. She leaves her three sons, Allan (Rochelle), Bob (Judy), both of Winnipeg, and Charles (Helen) of Saskatoon; granddaughters, Brenda (Dave), Nancy (Dave), Janet (Nick), Stephanie and Lauren; grandsons, Brian (Nicole), David (fiance Kim), Craig (special friend Darcy), Tony and Donald; great-granddaughter Erica, and great-grandsons, Kevin and Brandon. She was predeceased by her brother Gordon. Doris was born in Brandon on July 9, 1908. She graduated from Brandon College (McMaster University) with her B.A. and from the University of Saskatchewan with her BEd. Her teaching career started in Virden in 1930, continued with appointments in Emerson and Moosomin, and ended with ten years at United College from 1959 to 1969. Doris enjoyed 57 years of marriage to Clarke that included 28 wonderful years of retirement at Falcon Lake, The Wellington, and West Park Manor. Doris will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a gracious lady, a kind and loyal friend, and a generous contributor to what really matters. One of moms favourite poems, written by Philip Jones Bailey, best describes how she lived her life and guided her family. "We live in deeds not years, in thoughts not breaths, in feelings, not figures on a dial. We should count time by heart throbs. He most lives Who thinks most, feels the noblest, acts the best." The family gives special thanks to Eleanor McLellan, her caregiver and friend over the past three years. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 8 at 4:00 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway with Rev. Terry Hidichuk officiating. A private family interment will take place at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Westworth Legacy Fund, 1750 Grosvenor Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3N 0H9 would be appreciated by the family. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
