GLADYS NELLIE OLSON (nee STRICK) Gladys died peacefully after a long illness with Lupus, on August 5, 2000, at the Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 65. Gladys will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 42 years, Elwood; sons, Jeff (Patti), Greg (Donna) daughter, Bonnie (John) Leslie; grandchildren, Braden and Hillary Olson; Brigette, Molly, and Blake Olson; and Hannah Leslie; brother, Albert (Marion) Strick of Inwood, Man.; sister, Irene Zablotny of Toronto, Ont.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley (Nina) Olson of Victoria, BC, Albert (Hazel) Olson, Dolly (Bob) Mustard, Thelma (Don) Lawrence, and Irene (Albert) Meads; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gladys had a great love for her six grandchildren. She was a fantastic cook, who would always be sure you had a great home cooked meal, and you never left hungry. Gladys had an amazing green thumb, and greatly enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She was very skilled with her hands, and spent many hours doing handiwork. Gladys had a zest for life second to none. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 10 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be Garth Campbell, Todd Harvey, Braden Olson, Mark Olson, Gordon Strick and Lesley Strick. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of friends and family will be held in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Hussein, Dr. Blanchard, and the nurses and staff of GH3, at the Health Sciences Centre. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Gladys memory can be made to the Lupus Society of Manitoba Inc., 105 - 386 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0T9.
