LOUIS ALFRED a August 19, 1940 - August 5, 2000 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved dad Louis Alfred Shorting at his home in Little Saskatchewan First Nation on August 5, 2000 at the age of 59. Louis leaves to mourn his passing his children, Sheila (John) McLean, Jason (Audrey) Shorting, Grant (Stephanie) Shorting, Daniel (Holly) Shorting and Pamela Shorting; grandchildren whom he loved very much, John McLean Jr., Julie McLean, Zachary McLean, Amanda (Ross) Shorting, Joey Shorting, Jared Amos, Tara Amos, Shirley Shorting and Christian Shorting; mother Mary (William) Sinclair; brothers, Clifford (Caroline) Shorting, Hector (Rose) Shorting, Norman (Linda) Shorting, Albert (Lucy) Shorting; sisters, Mary Jane (Wesley) Sinclair, Beverly (Garnet) Sinclair, Delores (Leonard) Amos, Elenor Shorting; sister-in-law Lorraine Shorting; his best buddy Daniel Anderson of Fairford and special nephew David Amos; his aunts, Winnifred Thompson and Irma (Henry) Desjarlais; his uncle John (Rosalee) Sanderson; numerous relatives and friends from many places that he travelled. Louis was predeceased by his wife Muriel Shorting (Feb. 1966) by his brother George Shorting (Jan. 9, 1999) whom Louis used to play endless hours of music and fellowship with; nephews, Joseph Sinclair (Jun. 23, 1995) and Clay Shorting (Sept. 1994) uncle Peter Sinclair (Dec. 4, 1995) his dad Daniel Shorting (Mar. 21, 1988) Aunt Louisa McLean (1987) grandparents, Donald and Jemima Sanderson (1986). Louis loved to travel for the gospel and he enjoyed playing his violin very much. He always said if he played for the world, then how much more to play for the "King of Kings and Lord of Lords" which is the logo he used on his business cards. Louis and his brothers George and Norman made gospel tapes for the glory of God. He taught his granddaughter Julie McLean to play the violin, which he always said "was something he wanted to pass on to his children." We love you Dad, we know you went home, and for those of us who remain here on earth, you would want us to make heaven our home, where mansions glisten and crowns are given. Wake services will be held on Tuesday, August 8 and Wednesday, August 9 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 10 at 1:00 p.m. All Services will be held at the Little Saskatchewan Pentecostal Church, with Rev. John McLean officiating. Interment will follow at the Little Saskatchewan Cemetery. Arrangements Entrusted to ANDERSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME Ashern, Manitoba 1-204-768-3606

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Grandpa (doopido) Not a day goes by, I think of you. All of my memories of home; you are in them, even when I moved away you encouraged me. I wish so many times that I could go over or hear your voice. If only you could meet my wife and kids. I would be happy, but I know it was your time... Even if I could go home; it would be hard now, only because of the flooding that's taking place, with family members passing away or depression in the community. So all I could say now, is that I'm glad that you are home, "I Love you, I miss you!" ~Jr - Posted by: John McLean Jr (Grandson) on: Mar 06, 2013
