Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGERY MAY NEWMAN (nee ANDERSON) November 21, 1905 - August 3, 2000 After 94 years, Margery entered into Glory to meet her precious Saviour, whom she loved and served since a youngster. Her devoted and loving husband, Henry (or Harry) of 77 years looks forward to meeting her again on the other side. Margery was born in Balsam, Bay, Man. to parents Mathilda and Alexander Anderson. Margery is the baby sister of 11 older siblings (Mary, Dan, Elizabeth, Fanny, Nellie, John, Teenie, Billy, Esther, Caroline and Alex) who have all predeceased her. Besides Harry, Margery is survived by two children, Norma and Cyril (Betty) six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and by three great great-grandchildren. Margery grew up in her Balsam Bay home. A year after marrying Harry, they moved back home to care for her parents; run the Post Office and have Church services for the community. In 1951 they purchased the Red Wing Cafe and six cottages for rental in Grand Marais. They made this their home base, even though many transfers with the CN took them to places like: Headingley, Libau and Stead for brief periods. In 1967 they moved into Winnipeg, living mostly in the St. Vital area. Margery spent the last two and a half years in the independent living unit of Meadowood Manor with Harry, until illness sent them both to St. Boniface Hospital in March, 2000. In June they were both moved to the Manitoba Deaf Centre - Third floor, where staff lovingly cared for Margery. Margery was a hardworking, shy, caring and gracious lady. She sacrificed much for her family... giving up her dreams; contented with the sacrifices when they were made; committed to her goals. Because she sought to please her husband, her marriage was very happy. Margery loved to sing and prayed for many. She did not often share her feelings and wished she could express her faith in a bolder way. Margery listened and always kept confidences. She focused her life on a path of obedience to the God she loved and served. As a result, her family has always risen up and called her "Blessed". A special Thank you goes to the staff of Ward 5-E of St Boniface Hospital; the staff of Third Floor, Deaf Centre; how we appreciate your acts of love to her! Thanks so much to relatives and friends who came to visit. You helped make long days seem shorter and pleasant. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 9 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy #1 East at Green Acres Lane. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 10 at 2:00 p.m. from the Wayside Chapel at Grand Marais, Man. with Mr. Glen Zelmar officiating. The Eulogy will be given by Mr. Gordon Thomas. Mr. John Thomas will officiate at the interment in Balsam Bay, Man. Donations in memory of Margery may be made to Faith Bible Camp. GREEN ACRES FUNERAL CHAPEL 222-3241
